The Rigtheous Three-Episode-Rule Of Doom Winter 2015 “First” Impressions: Saekano.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the darkhorse of the season. Because really, who wouldn´ve expected Saekano -or How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend -to be reminiscent to the likes of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kunOn the very first episode, I was skeptical, because while Saekano definitely adressed the bullshit harem animu tropes that we all love to hate, it didn´t do anything to correct them, either, and is pointing out your own bad qualities really enough?  does it justify the endless boob jiggles, the tsunderes and the generic mc? In my own personal opinion, it doesn´t, which is why episode zero  had me calling Saekano a hypocritcal yet amusing mess.

Two episodes later, and Saekano is up there with Death Parade, Shirobako and Parasyte as my top 5 anime of the season.

The thing is, I can´t exactly tell you why. It doesn´t change all that much from the first episode, sure, we get less fanservice and more pointing out the repetitive, boring and dumb clichés anime and everything around it has, hell, the mc himself is a blogger himself, and the supposed girlfriends, Kato, is strangely realistic and definitely takes the  title of best girl of the season opposed to the two flashy bishoujos in our otaku circle.

In the end, every episode of Saekano (so far) goes by fast with some laughs here and there. It´s fresh and witty, but more importantly, it´s amusing and celebrates anime in its own, special way. GG, guys, gg.
