The Rigtheous Three-Episode-Rule Of Doom Winter 2015 “First” Impressions: Durarara!!x2.

238Durarara was one of the first anime I have ever seen and, because of that, it holds a special place in my heart. While the first season was filled with misfit overload that middle school me could just eat up, the latter half centered around the three dullest characters in the entire franchise. 5 years and a studio switch later, Durarara is here to stay, and oh, does it do it well.

My favourite thing about Durarararara and especially this new season is that the entire cast is 100% human in the most cartoonesque way possible. Be it the violence-hating-violent Shizuo and his robotic brother, the twins and their contradicting need of distinction, Izaya the most recognized anime asshole of all time, the otaku duo and even the god damn highschoolers that on the surface don´t care for much more but holding hands and the internet.

My point is, Durarara is an incredibly character driven show, and thank god for its likeable cast. There´s just something about the Durarara world that´s filled with weird and is also somewhat realistic, because we get different perspectives of a single event, which makes the city of Ikebukuro just seem so much more alive than your standard anime romcom that centers around nothing but our shoujo girl and her angsty love interest.

For the most part, Durarara!! is absolutely living up to the hype aslong as Shinra isn´t the one talking, Durarara!! is currently in my top whatever anime of the season along with Death Parade, Shirobako and Parasyte, aswell as having my favourite opening so far. I´m hype, and I just can´t wait for more.
