The Rigtheous Three-Episode-Rule Of Doom. Summer 2014 “First” Impressions: Tokyo Ghoul.

I feel like Tokyo Ghoul is what Pupa should have been: Atmospheric, dark and taken seriously.

Studio Pierrot surprised me, really, because the animation and stylization is amazingly well done (even if the censoring is a bit distracting), but apart from that, Tokyo Ghoul also has it’s concept going for it.

Tokyo Ghoul, despite it’s somewhat cliché characters is somehow cool and natural: It feels like it doesn’t try to be epic like, lets say Akame Ga Kill (a show about edgy fashion-models playing the tragic villains and ends up feeling juvenile more than anything) but is still highly enjoyable.

It’s like you’re walking in a world that has always existed but never noticed, unless Tokyo Ghoul suffers an unexpected drop in quality I can safely say that this will easily be in the the top 10 anime of the year.
