Having loved every series Kyoto Animation has had to offer in the past, I think it’s just understandable that I was excited for this for other reasons than just my animu pretty boy crave from last summer.
The only problem with this studio is that the anime they promote and the anime they show are almost two different things. (K-on!, yes, hi, nice to meet you.)
So tagged under Supernatural Dark Fantasy Moe Mystery with a touch of sexiness, will this all original follow the footsteps of Free!, or will it descend into the pit of meh that was Tamako Market?
In a season dubbed as the best of the year 2013 so far, (Except that I have to disagree on this one, sure, quantity wise it’s the best, but quality wise? ha, no.) Kyoukai No Kanata stands alone in her competition.
The story follows Akihito, a half-youmu-half-human who one days talks a pretty megane girl out of what looked like suicide.
What he doesn’t know is that Mirai is the last survivor of her family, a family that was looked down upon over their power of blood manipulation. Following this, the anime is a mix of friendship with a touch of the supernatural.
As of episode 4, I really god damn like this. The characters are just so Kyoani it’s rather ridiculous, the animation is shoving the awesomeness in your face and finally the story… well, it’s progressing, at least.
To be simple; It’s kind of heartwarming to see the story of two misfits, adding the comedy, this might aswell be my favourite of the Fall season.
Now, if you don’t usually like Kyoani shows, I won’t guarantee you will like this anymore. I mean, it is Kyoani, Moe is bound to happen.
But you know what? I’m loving every second of it.
Atleast, for now.
(Also, serious candidate for best ED of the season. God damn.)
