This is the first show of the season that made me go ´Yes, I like this.´
The first episode of Shingeki No Bahamut: Genesis is so up my alley it´s unreal, and it´s a serious step above all the visual novel and ecchi galore that the season has to offer, so far and as it stands, MAPPA knows it´s shit, but´s it´s also a bit scary. I mean, what if good, adventurous, crazy well-animated and fun shows like these just doesn´t cut the chase with the loli loving Japanese folk? Will MAPPA have no other choice but to buy into the trashy light novel trend that somehow makes enough money for them to be made season after season after season?
While I finished this episode with this thought, I also think that, as it stands, Shingeki No Bahamut: Genesis has one of the best opening episodes of the entire year, I mean, with animation so beautiful, a cast so likeable, a plot so Hollywood and music so exhilarating, it would be offensive if the execution weren´t atleast decent.
If you´ve read my World Trigger post about how I would include the single best fight scene of the entire series in the first episode rather than introduce characters that nobody really gives a shit about anyway, well, Bahamut did it. They made action look interesting, yo, Akame Ga Kill, World Trigger and 80% of all action animu out there, whip your memo out and take some notes.
It´s kind of hard to believe that this anime is even real. It´s that good. It´s that enjoyable. It kind of feels like a Western Hollywood flick, and I´m loving all of it.
Conclusion: Kaisar looks like a reject Space Dandy design. Their personality is lovable. MAPPA is going in. You know you´ve won me over if you have horses running on rooftops.
