Previous talk of Margot Robbie playing as Major are off as she is now being lined up for a a Hollywood adaptation of the DC comic Suicide Squad. Taking her place, DreamWorks has a made a 10M dollar offer to Scarlett Johansson, who has previously played in Lucy and The Avengers.
While Steven Spielberg himself is full with passion for the project, it will be produced and written by Ari Arad and Steven Paul, plans are to shoot it in 3D.
I´m not entirely sure why they insist in casting a blonde female for the role, but whatever I guess. I also think that those millions can be used elsewhere, but that´s Hollywood for ya. Furthermore, as for my thoughts on the actual adaptation, I´m optimistic. Personally, I liked The Edge Of Tommorow, and while I´m sure that this will be dumbed down to just another Hollywood flick with all the badass monologues and sexy catsuits and unecessary sexual tension, aslong as they can capture a fraction of the beauty that the animation of Ghost In The Shell had, I´m in.
