My Top 5 Anime Comedies.

Anime comedies are a complete hit or miss, and if you don´t like inmature jokes or satire and parody, anime is a dry dessert to satisfy your thirst – now, I´m a pretty sarcastic person and satire is my absolute favourite kind of comedy, apart from the generic main-character-shouts-and-jumps-a-lot type of comedy everyone and their mother seems to hate but I find my own inmature sanctuary in, in order to convince you of my shit taste, I´ve compiled yet another clickbaiting list of my top five anime comedies.

1. Ouran Highschool Host Club

Since it´s damn near impossible to find an Ouran screenshot in the right size that won´t fuck up this entire post, I´ll use a video instead. Ouran Highschool Host Club was one of my first ever anime, I even watched in the dub (Which I still think is better than the sub) and even after re-watching it a handful of times, it just gets better every time. The reason is pretty obvious, Ouran Highschool Host Club, produced by BONES, takes all your favourite clichés of the shoujo or reverse harem genre and laughs at it, stomps it on the floor and adds a whole lotta´ loving. Ouran Highschool Host Club is joke after joke after joke, and still manages to put in more feeling than most serious shoujo anime could hope to achieve, basically, this is without a doubt my favourite comedy anime ever, period.

2. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Three seasons, over 30 episodes of bitter laugther and nihilistic spirit. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei describes itself to ba black comedy with a lot of talking, and that´s exactly what it is. It is produced by SHAFT, and wheter you´re going to enjoy this or not depends on your attention span and how much conversation you can handle in one sitting, if you can sit through that, however, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei will be an unique experience.

It´s comparable to Bakemonogatari (it´s by the same iconic studio after all) but personally, I prefer Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei a whole lot more, maybe because I´m just an incorrigible optimist, and this has a suicidal teacher, which is an awesome concept to have.

3. Daily Lives Of Highschool Boys

This one´s a classic. If you like Gintama, you will like Nichibros and viceversa. If Ouran Highschool Host Club pokes fun at shoujo, then Daily Lives Of Highschool Boys pokes fun at the whole entire medium. I´ll be real and admit it took me a while to properly get into it, but if you´re ever feeling sarcastic and a bit spiffy about anime and its tropes, Daily Lives Of Highschool Boys is the anime you need, you´ve seen the gifs on Tumblr and the screenshots on 4chan, they´re there for a reason, watch it.

4. D-Frag

I warned you guys, I have a thing for comedy where the main character is put in some odd situation and shouts for 12 consecutive episodes, it´s my own personal inmature streak, and with that said, D-Frag seems to be tailored for people like me – it´s dumb but fun, very anime and chances are you´ll get sick of it in the first three episodes. I didn´t get sick of it, however, and am tempted to watch it again. It´s great. The characters are great, you´ve seen this type of shows a million times before.

5. Arakawa Under The Bridge

And yet another comedy anime by SHAFT, with the same type of comedy as the afromentioned Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, just slightly less pessimistic. I´m shocked this hasn´t blown up all over the internet considering how inherently ridiculous it is; business dude falls down a bridge, gets saved by a homeless girl and end up living under the bridge, enter ridiculous situations. Arakawa Under The Bridge counts two seasons, and they´re awesome and you should probably watch them.

Honorable Mentions; Cromartie Highschool, Detroit Metal City, No Matter How I Look At It, It´s You´s Guys Fault That I´m Not Popular.

So many people are going to be so butthurt over the fact that something like D-Frag got higher than cult classics like Cromartie Highschool, I warned ya, I have shit taste. To be real, Cromartie Highschool is a gift from the heavens with a lot of testosterone, Detroit Metal City is the rudest thing I´ve ever seen in an anime,Watamote is just Watamote and all these anime are great.
