Update: It’s all real, ANN has confirmed this.
According to a ‘leak’ (Although it’s not actually a leak, seeing that this could easily be a hoax) out of China the 40th issue of Shonen Jump – an issue which will also feature Kuroko on the cover and include Kuroko No Basket colour pages – will see the ending of the popular basketball manga.
I believe the picture above expresses the fandoms feelings accurately.
Coincidentally, there have also been rumors on various online forums that claim a Viz translator said a Shonen Jump series will end unexpectedly.
Well, damn, if Kuroko ending is not unexpected, I don’t know what is.
Naturally, these are rumors and Kuroko No Basket could very well run for another year(s) if it wanted to, but in all honesty, I wouldn’t hold it against Tadatoshi Fujimaki to let the series end this way. I would actually kind of respect that he’s holding on to his writers diginity and isn’t swept away by the popularity of his creation.
Nevertheless, I have only seen both seasons of the anime adaptation so I wouldn’t know if this really is the case or not, I guess Kuroko No Basket is one of those manga you expect to run for years and years, but now that I think about it, I think I’d get a bit tired if I had to watch another season of the same Naruto-esque stuff but in second year uniforms.
