So Kill la Kill made me go on a nostalgia trip once more this week as it takes out all the tropes we’ve seen in the after-school cartoons we watched as kids; We find out Satsuki-sama has been planning a rebellion against her mothers schemes of world domination behind her back while we also find out Satsuki and Ryouko are in fact sisters.
I don’t know why, but this classic plotwist that would otherwise make me roll my eyes somehow worked for Kill la Kill. Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen this trope in a while, or maybe it’s exactly because it’s the over the top wish-granting Kill la Kill that did it, and did it masterfully.
I think we can all collectively agree that this was one hell of an episode and probably the best episode out of the entire series.
I didn’t know where to look and there was something happening in every corner of the Kill la Kill universe. If the show can keep up with this pace I can safely say that Kill la Kill will end up being my favourite show of it’s season, despite it’s lackluster beginning and questionable middle.
And c’mon; watching the over powered Satsuki getting beat up by her own mother was kind of amazing to see.
