Ever wanted your girlfriend to cuck you with her bestfriend? The time has come and 2017 has already been proclaimed the year of the lesbians.
Gay news comes in packs and although I called it years ago that Saburouta’s hit yuri manga Citrus was bound to get some sort of adaptation, I didn’t expect it to get here just yet.
That’s right – in case you’ve been living under a rock and are one of the few privileged people that don’t know what Citrus is all about. it’s as typical as your everyday ecchi manga gets where the protagonist moves into a new place and gets sexually assaulted by his stepsisters. Except that this time, it’s between two girls, and they bone each other, self-doubt a lot and fuck in a bathtub.
Not in that exact order, but that doesn’t really matter. It’s all the same, anyway. But the same is enough for me in this case, because there has never been a yuri drought, mainly because there was never yuri rain to begin with. Which means, I’m glad to stick my tongue out for whatever drop comes out of it, and this has all the potential of becoming a commercial success just like its manga counterpart is.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t been said whether it’s going to be adapted as an OVA or a proper cour – I’ll bet on the latter though, because it’s not smutty enough to pass as a raunchy OVA and the actual plot can’t be compressed in a couple of episodes. This has never stopped anime from making shitty OVA episodes, sure, but I’ll stay optimistic.
Moreover, in an announcement which I expected a lot less, Seven Seas other yuri manga, Netzuzou Trap: NTR is confirmed to be turned into a television anime and the tagline reads ‘we have a secret we can’t tell our boyfriends’ and it’s just as hilarious and stupid as you are imagining it to be. No, really, I hopped away from the screen and read a couple of chapters for the sake of this post (and also because it sounded hilarious) and it’s proper terrible, and somewhat reminiscent.
Either way, 2017 has been declared as the year of the lesbians, as it already has more yuri shows in the works than the past three years have had in total.
