Former editor Junghyun Park was arrested in the early hours of the morning after autopsy found signs of strangulation, but Park maintains his innocence.
Since then, Kondansha released a statement noting that an investigation is in process, and that Park hadn’t been editing for Attack on Titan since 2009, after which he moved from Bessatsu Shonen Magazine to Weekly Morning.
Park changed his story twice according Sankei News – initially calling emergency services after returning home from work at 2:50 A.M, saying his wife had collapsed. Upon police arrival, however, Park said she committed suicide by hanging herself.
Autopsy revealed signs of strangulation and suffocation as a consequence, and scratches on her face. If you’re wondering if suicide by suffocation without props is even possible – it’s not. You could, at most, make yourself pass out, but the muscles will automatically relax to make you breathe again.
Kanako Park was thirty eight years old, and left four children with Junghyun Park behind.
