Anime Doesn’t Take The Crown In MTV Fandom Awards And No One Is Surprised.

“Veronica Mars” won the biggest honor at the mtvU Fandom Awards at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday night (July 24): The “Fandom of the Year” award. The Kristen Bell-starring franchise came out on top after weeks of voting in an epic 32-nominee bracket, winning out over the likes of “Community,” “Supernatural” and “Free! Iwatobi Swim Club.”

I might be living under a weaboo rock but what the hell is Veronica Mars?

After comfortably beating Blood Lad, Naruto and Attack On Titan, Free! Iwatobi Swim Club actually made it to the finals of the MTV ‘Fandom Of The Year’ – which is hilarious enough – but would have been even better if there was no one to pick up the prize and watch the entire stadium get collectively confused over some Chinese Cartoon  taking the crown.

Well, it is Comic-c0n, so maybe not. Still, I’m more surprised that Supernatural didn’t win out of all things because (I’m not American nor do I watch TV, so bare with me) I didn’t think neither Community nor Veronica Mars were a big deal.

Whatever I guess, and cheers to the winners, I guess.

  2. For your information (you should check Google if you live under a rock), Veronica Mars was a TV show running on US TV that was really popular in the mid 2000s. It’s the story of a detective girl living in a very richy city, like Beverly hills.

The series was cancelled after 3 seasons and the fans tried to revive it with a huge campaign, by sending Mars bars to the cable company (CW I think). They finally made a Kickstarter a few years later to make a sequel, in the form of a movie who was released this year.

    There you go.
