I almost forgot about this post, water is wet, The Interview is an awful movie and unfortunately, every year has some terrible, terrible anime, sometimes ot the point that it´s kind of funny. I dumped all the drama on the comedy post, so for this one, let´s get right into it. Needless to say that the anime mentioned are what I think are the worst anime of the year. Subjective. My own. You don´t have to agree and, hey, if I somehow offend you because the anime that saved your life is one here, I´m sorry.
What does an anime have to do to be terrible? For me, an anime is truly terrible if it´s uninspiring, boring, and, well, really freakin´ boring.
I mean, yeah, I think Akame Ga Kill is pretty awful, but I enjoyed it regardless, I think Shigatsu is appalling, but I understand why it´s so loved, Pupa is simply Pupa and fuck, did I laugh with that one. One way or another, it´s the anime that leave me with zero food for thought, that are truly terrible.
Anyways, standing dead first in this prestigious list of trash is Nobunagun, which is everything that makes an anime terrible. It´s boring, the characters are boring, the plot is boring, the animation is boring, the pseudo-yuri is boring, the Nobunaga setting is boring, the mechs are boring, the protagonist is boring. All in all, this show is a snoozefest through and through, God bless your soul if you actually, somehow, enjoyed it.
Coming in second is the appalling Black Bullet. Oh, Black Bullet, how you´ve hurt me. I expected something cool, but alas, the loli army had to hijack this show and fuck it over with Onii-sans and dick measuring contests, except with tits.
If anyobody were to ask me what´s so bad about anime, I´d show them this. I didn´t know how much more I could handle of little children getting saved -one by on- by our Kirito-like protagonist that has the personality of every shonen hero ever, but less likeable, before exploding. At the very least, it provoked some anger within me, unlike Nobunagun, which was just boring. Congrats, ya old bastard, now get out.
After this third one, I´m gonna walk on popular grounds, so grab yo´ angry tsunderes and fujoshis before flipping out. Third place goes to Mahou Sensou. That`s it. This show was so boring and messy that I don´t even know what so about it. I can´t even complain about it. It´s just bad, don´t watch this, do yourself that favour.
Anyways, for the rest, I think the following shows were pretty terrible, but there must´ve been something in it for me not to bash it to hell and back, they´re popular, often praised to be the best of their respective seasons and I just don´t get it, coincidentally, Mari Okada wrote both of them.
First up is Golden Time, a show praised to be a realistic take on the romance genre, but really, what reality are you living if most of the episodes are just the protagonist talking to his ghost self? there were some amusing and even good moments, but my God, at some point the cast was so collectively filled with stupid that even School Days was frowning in its grave. Look, I was just as excited for this show as anyone else, romance set in college? Oh, yes. Unfortunately the only thing I took away from this series is that childhood friends in anime are always annoying as fuck, they just can´t help it, it´s in their DNA.
Then there´s Nagi No Asukara, which is a touch above Golden Time, mainly because of the drop dead gorgeous production values that P.A Works are known for. Nagi No Asukara was a royal mess, because everything that happened in this show could be done in 12 episodes, instead, based Mari Okada couldn´t help but capitalize the melodrama and go round and round with the stupid love polygons. Listen, I just don`t care. Maybe this show wasn´t for me from the get-go, but I was interested enough in the first episode. Then it got frustrating.
That´s it for me though, naturally these are all my own opinion on the shows that I have watched till the bitter end, there may have been worse ones, but I didn´t finish them. Thank you for reading.
